Description

Educators Artefact Collection kits have been made for educators and schools as an affordable option to pass on First Nation’s culture and knowledge, educate and empower educators with their stories and have authentic artefacts readily available to young learners.

Each Educators Arefact Collection kit includes:

Digging Stick
Burnt with a story of the 6 seasons representing what to looks for and what to listen to when obtaining food and medicine and protecting one’s health.
These digging sticks are made from an Acer tree which is weed acquired during land care management at Yarramundi on the Nepean River, harvested with permission from Darug traditional owners. The land care management program ensured these Acer trees were saved from burning and used as educational tools.

Emu Caller
Traditionally used for calling and hunting emu by hitting the top of the caller with a flat palm of the hand. These items are burnt with emu tracks. The wood from the Mallee tree has been sustainably sourced with cultural permission from Western NSW near Dubbo, Mallee.

Boomerang
Traditionally used for hunting, burnt story represents people coming together.

Clapsticks
Made from an Acer tree, which is weed acquired during land care management at Yarramundi on the Nepean River, harvested with permission from Darug traditional owners. Three bands burnt onto clapsticks represent our fathers, our mothers and our ancestors and their continued guidance in our upbringing. Traditionally used as musical instrument to accompany song.

Coolamon
Iron bark coolamon, sustainably sourced on the Central Coast, NSW. Traditionally used as carrying device for food, materials, medicine and even babies.

Emu feathers included.
